Sherwood Surveying & S.U.E. is seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas with expertise in Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.) to oversee, review, approve, and seal S.U.E. deliverables. The ideal candidate will ensure S.U.E. data is collected, analyzed, and documented in accordance with ASCE 38-22 standards.
This role is critical to maintaining the quality and accuracy of our utility mapping, conflict analysis, and coordination efforts for major infrastructure projects statewide.
Responsibilities
- Review, approve, and seal S.U.E. deliverables including utility maps, potential utility conflict reports, and additional utility risk/conflict mitigation recommendations
- Verify SUE deliverables meet ASCE 38-22 standards and applicable client specifications
- Provide QA/QC oversight and engineering judgment on survey data, geophysical test results, and utility records research
- Collaborate closely with project managers, field crews, survey teams, and design engineers to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Identify potential utility conflicts and recommend design or construction mitigation strategies
- Support the development of project scopes, estimates, and proposals for S.U.E. services
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians in S.U.E. best practices and quality control
- Maintain compliance with Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (TBPELS) licensing and sealing requirements
- Conduct or coordinate detailed phases of technical work
- Coordinate with drafters, technicians, and engineers to assist in project execution
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing
- Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering, utility coordination, or related civil/utility engineering roles
- Demonstrated proficiency with ASCE 38-22 standards and TxDOT S.U.E. deliverable requirements preferred
- Strong understanding of utility systems (water, sewer, gas, telecom, electric) and underground mapping practices
- Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred
- Working knowledge of coordinate systems preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
